Flower power and bell bottoms weren't the only thing the 70's gave us, they also introduced us to wedges. Glorious, glorious wedges! The chunky yet sexy shoes are, in my opinion, God's gift to women- they give you the height you need without the aches and pains of a normal stiletto heel.
We saw a huge influx of the shoes on the runways in late 2011 and they are still going strong in 2012. I recently bought myself a pair of the heavenly "heels" and I can actually walk in them without looking like a wobbly ditz, this means I can also dance in them and not have to sit down every 15 minutes or sneakily take them off when no one is looking.
Christian Louboutin seems to be the leading designer of platform heels, with celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Sarah Jessica Parker and Blake Lively often wearing them on the red carpet. The secret to the best wedge is the platform under the front part of the foot which instantly boosts your height and therefore gives the heel more support.
