Winter Warmth

Looking drop dead gorgeous and staying warm is surprisingly very difficult. I have found myself sitting in bed, with no make up, hair a mess, with nearly every single item of clothing on just to stay warm. Therefore, i have decided to make it my mission in life to find a style that will be be warm, attractive, and comfortable.

Leggings and stockings are my best friends in winter. The styles, patterns and colors differ so much, unlike jeans, which all look very similar.
We have recently come to realize that wearing leggings, and socks over them, is not that bad after all.
Have a look at these pictures and let us know what you think.

Hair Care

You have it all, the designer clothes, the amazing make up, to-die-for shoes, but one thing you do not have... Is that perfectly styled hair.
It is so hard to get your hair right, we girls spend more of our time on our hair than on anything else. We use a hair dryer, a straightening iron, we pull, we tease, we DAMAGE!
Now we need to restore our hair, and that is the tough part!

Here a few tips I have found, and I am going to try out.

1. Try a shampoo that lathers less - some shampoos put too much moisturizing products into there shampoo, and it could actually leave build up in your hair instead of cleaning it.

2. Rinse your hair with cold water - Rinsing your hair with cold water seals the cuticles and adds a sleek look to your hair. Before you shampoo, just give it a rinse with cold water.

3. Play Hot and Cold with you hair - When using a round brush to dry your hair in sections, start from the roots and dry all the way to the ends, letting the brush linger at the tips of your strands. Let your hair cool off like this on its own for five seconds, then repeat on another section. Alternating between heat and cool-down time helps set your style, and your blowout will have more body.

4. Use rollers for high volume - For sex-kitten lift, blow out your locks until they’re dry. Then, section off the hair on top of your head—between your temples and all the way back to the crown of your hair. Divide that section into three smaller sections vertically (as if you were making a mohawk), and wrap each in a 2-inch velcro hair roller. Let your hair sit like this for 30 minutes, and then unwrap your strands, lightly comb them out, and spray for hold.

5. Drop the towel. Keeping wet strands wrapped in a towel for a half-hour as you do your make-up will just cause frizz! The roughness of the cotton forces your hair cuticles open, making them more likely to go every-which-way. Instead, squeeze out excess water as soon as you’re out of the shower, then let your hair air-dry for five or ten minutes before blowdrying.

6. Apply products 10 minutes before you style. Whether you’re curling, straightening, or whatevering, applying product 10 minutes in advance helps it fully absorb into your strands so you get all of its benefits and more bang for your buck.

7. Wrap—don’t clamp—your hair for quick curls. When using a curling iron, you don’t need to fasten your locks to the barrel. Wrap sections around the iron and hold in place for about 10 seconds to score the same soft, sexy curls.

8. Use spray bottles as your new lazy-day BFF. If you wake up and your locks are totally flat or grungy from the day before, just spray the top layer of your hair until damp, and then use a big barrel roundbrush (2 inches or more) to blow your locks dry. You’ll score high volume on that top layer, and since it’s freshly blown out, you’ll create the illusion of all-over smooth hair.

9. Use dry shampoo a different way. Instead of waiting until your locks need an dirt-fighting pick-me-up, apply a dab of dry shampoo to your roots immediately after you wash and dry them. Though your hair’s already clean, the barrier will stave off the debris and oil your strands will collect throughout the day before it hits. Bonus: It also gives you killer volume.

Chanel's Boy Handbag

It's the latest must have accessory by Chanel, a geometric looking medium sized handbag that everyone is going crazy for.

Alice Dellal is the model in these very uncharacteristic Chanel photos taken by Karl Lagerveld himself. Because of her unique features and punk style she has been used in campaigns for Vivienne Westwood and lingerie company Agent Provocateur amongst others. Her major break came when she was announced as the face of Marc by Marc Jacobs and soon after landed this Chanel shoot.

The full campaign also includes a short film which can be viewed on the Chanel website

"Alice Dellal represents the perfect incarnation of all that is unique about the Boy Chanel handbag collection, which strives to be far from conformist notions of femininity." said Chanel reps

We (heart) wedges

Flower power and bell bottoms weren't the only thing the 70's gave us, they also introduced us to wedges. Glorious, glorious wedges! The chunky yet sexy shoes are, in my opinion, God's gift to women- they give you the height you need without the aches and pains of a normal stiletto heel.

We saw a huge influx of the shoes on the runways in late 2011 and they are still going strong in 2012. I recently bought myself a pair of the heavenly "heels" and I can actually walk in them without looking like a wobbly ditz, this means I can also dance in them and not have to sit down every 15 minutes or sneakily take them off when no one is looking.

Christian Louboutin seems to be the leading designer of platform heels, with celebrities such as Kim Kardashian, Sarah Jessica Parker and Blake Lively often wearing them on the red carpet. The secret to the best wedge is the platform under the front part of the foot which instantly boosts your height and therefore gives the heel more support. Below are some of my favorite designer wedges:

ALDO

Angel

Gianmarco Lorenzi

Jeffery Campbell

Lanvin

Burberry

Christian Louboutin

Ed Hardy

Gucci

Vivienne Westwood

Gavin Rajah

We are nearing the end of Johannesburg Fashion Week 2012 and I am blown away by some of South Africa's leading designers. I've always had a soft spot for Gavin Rajah so I decided to do a review of his collection.

I found his pieces to be sophisticated and beautifully feminine as well as sexy. I loved his use of lace and chiffon as well as the interesting silhouettes. He played around with high and low necklines and used luxurious fabrics. Below are some of my favorites from his catwalk show:

Get those abs ready, girls!

If you thought you could skip a few sessions at the gym, think again... The crop top is back ladies and with a bang! The tops are generally worn loosely, emphasizing a slim waist and showing off a toned tummy. And dont think you can get away with not wearing one in Winter... they are worn with coats over them too.

Dont worry, you don't have to have a perfectly toned four- pack to pull of this trend, you can layer your clothes for a more covered up look

layers make this look easier for the
everyday woman to wear

Tips for wearing the crop top:

Choose the right length: Crop tops come in a variety of shapes and lengths so decide how much skin (if any) you want to show off

Match the rest of your look accordingly: If worn with the wrong clothing, crop tops can look awful. for a more sophisticated look, for example, team your crop top with some high waisted, slim fitting trousers

Add a tank top underneath: Not comfortable showing off your stomach? You don't have to... You can still stay on trend by wearing a tank top underneath your crop to give your outfit that layered look.

Keep it classy: We all know that a crop top isn't appropriate for work or class so rather wear your new found favorite item of clothing to the beach or festival. If you style your crop right you can even wear it on a date!

Just try it: Still afraid to wear a crop?  Try wearing one over your swimming costume at the beach or fall back on our previous advice- layer, layer, layer! Either way, have fun with your clothes and wear what you are comfortable in.

It's a girl!

Jessica Simpson poses for the April edition of Elle and gives a juicy interview revealing the sex of her baby as well as some gorgeous, glowing pics (even a nude)

She playfully voices her concerns that she might have a tom-boy who would prefer sports over cute shoes and clothes “Ah swear, ah will croak if she asks me for a pair of Nikes instead of Christian Louboutins!” She also said “Eric is so athletic. We’re gonna have this ath-a-letic girl and I won’t even be able to take her shopping.”

The pop star reveals that she knew she was pregnant before taking the test and her body and her mind gave her the signs “We were goin’ to have an all-day drinking binge,” Simpson says, not shy about saying so. “Gonna ride our bikes, hang out…do naughty things. But I started feeling this overwhelming guilt. Why would I feel guilt at the idea of going out and   having cocktails with my friends?”

Jessica has always been a bigger girl and the media has often put her in the spotlight for being over weight but she says she loves her body and feels sexy, especially now that she is pregnant. She embraces her curves and it definitely works for her!
